Transfer to Cochin Airport for departure. (Day 14)
Day 01: Cochin
Pick up from Cochin airport by our representative. Transfer to a
heritage hotel. Sightseeing in historic Fort Cochin, British bungalows,
Jewish Synagogue, Portuguese Churches. Watch the Chinese fishing nets on
the beach landing their catch.
Day 02: Cochin
Sightseeing and shopping at Fort Cochin. Real Kerala antiques which can
be shipped, smaller items from all over India. Wander along Spice
Street, full of cardamom and pepper warehouses. Optional extra; ferry
ride to an island for lunch at an old Dutch palace, now a hotel.
Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 03: Alleppey
Transfer to Alleppey to board on a traditional houseboat. A 22-hour
private cruise along Kerala's famous backwaters. Watch village life on
the river banks - ladies washing their clothes, men punting by in
traditional boats.
Day 04: Thekkady
Taxi to Thekkady - India's best-known wild life centres, Periyar
Wildlife Sanctuary, 777 sq km of jungle. Watch out for bison, barking
deer, elephants washing on the waterside at dusk. Overnight stay at a
plantation hotel.
Day 05: Thekkady
Visit the Cardamom Hills and plantations. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 06: Kovalam
Taxi to Kovalam. This is a more built-up beach. Watch the fishermen
land their catch while they chant their work songs. Overnight at a
Kovalam hotel.
Day 07: Kovalam/ Kanyakumari/ Kovalam
Morning leisure. Optional evening trip to Kanyakumari, where the three
great oceans meet. Gandhi Memorial, island temple, great sunsets. Return
to Kovalam hotel.
Day 08: Kovalam
Leisure at the beach.
Day 09: Varkala
Taxi to Varkala, the temple town. Visit the 2000-year-old ancient
Janardhanaswamy temple, cliffed beaches, nature care centre, Papanasam
beach. Overnight stay at a hotel in Varkala.
Day 10: Varkala
Leisure.
Day 11: Alleppey
Drive to Alleppey. Experience hustle and bustle in the town. Shopping
silk and gold. In the evening, stroll along the beach with the local
community. Stay in a luxury heritage Home at the beach.
